The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at The University of Texas at Austin cordially invites submissions for the next issue of Pterodáctilo, a graduate student publication dedicated to the diffusion of critical and creative expressions of Iberian and Latin American languages and cultures.
Founded in the 1980s, Pterodáctilo serves as a multidisciplinary and multilingual platform for dialogue amongst writers, scholars, artists, and cultural practitioners from across the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula. We welcome original or previously released works in Spanish, English, or Portuguese that engage with diverse cultural, social, political, and/or artistic perspectives.
Categories for Submission
- Features – analytical essays, cultural criticism, or reflective pieces.
 - Literature – short stories, creative prose, or poetry.
 - Interviews – written, video, or audio conversations with writers, artists, or researchers.
 - Reseñas / Opinión – critical reviews of books, films, performances, or exhibitions.
 - Blog – Brief, accessible essays or creative reflections  on current issues, art, culture, or personal experience, written in a conversational yet conceptually rich tone.
 
Submission Guidelines
- Works may be submitted in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
 - Please include the author’s name, institutional or professional affiliation (if applicable), a short bio (max. 100 words), and contact information.
